Abstract Ten novel matrine derivatives containing naphthalene structure, 14-naphthalene hydroxyl methyl matrine(3a~3c), 14-naphthalene formyl matrine(3g~3j) and 14-naphthyl methyl alkenyl matrine(3d~3f), were designed and synthesized by reaction of matrine and naphthalene compounds in THF, using LDA and NaH as nucleophilic reagent. The structures were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FT-IR and ESI-MS.
